What if you received a text message from God, wouldn't you read it?  This series is about how we have received a text message from God, it's called the Bible.  Doug's goal in this series is to get us to read the bible!  This week Doug shares with us some practical steps we can take to read God's Word.  Here are four questions we can ask to help us read God's word and put it into our hearts.

Doug shared this message on January 22, 2012, at Wildwood Christian Church as a part of a series called, "Text."

We continue our series, Text, with a "big picture" look at the Word of God.  How is the bible put together?  Doug takes a very practical look at the Bible to help us see how the pieces fit together.  The miracle of the Bible IS the bible.  The unified theme running throughout scripture is astonishing!

A Love Story

The real love story of Christmas is not of Mary and Joseph, but of God the Father and His love for His Son, Jesus Christ.  Doug shared from John 1:1-14, the relationship God the Father, and God the Son shared from before time.  How they were willing to say "good-bye" and save the world through the sacrifice of Jesus.  How do we respond to such a love?  We accept it into our hearts!

Christmas, the most wonderful time of the year ... was it for Jesus?  God’s not impressed with what money can buy.  He knows it’s temporary.  And God is VERY not impressed with those who look at their own personal possessions and prestige in the community and power and pull and feel all self-satisfied.  Christmas is a political story, and God runs the Universe on the platform of upside down politics.

Evan Osgood shared this message on December 11, 2011, at Wildwood Christian Church.  This message is part two of the series, "Christmas: The Untold Story."

A War Story

A warm fuzzy feeling ... it's what many shoot for as Christmas draws near.  God isn't interested in your warm feelings, rather He is interested in a radical transformation of your heart.  Jesus birth was an invasion into enemy territory to bring us back to God.  Doug shared from Matthew 2:1-19 and the story of Herod and his attack on the baby Jesus.

Christmas was a war to defeat the enemy entrenched in the hearts of God’s creation.  Satan is a real, determined, and hateful enemy.  He wants to destroy the works of God in your life.  This baby came to do battle and win the war against Satan.  Are you advancing the battle plan for your life, or are you retreating?

Do you hold people at arm's length; or never let the real you be known?  The fear of intimacy limits God's work in the life of His children.  He desires to use the people in our lives to help us grow and mature, but if we keep them away, we lose out.

In this message, Doug shares both the pitfall's of this fear, and two biblical steps to overcome.  Doug shared this message at Wildwood Christian Church on November 29, 2011.
